Project Description
In tribal regions and rough terrains, accessibility to water is challenged by complex geographies.
Women and children carry 15-30 liters of water, roughing up to 4km of hilly and forest terrain to meet their daily needs.
In many cases a second crop could have been possible if water for agricultural activities could be made available at the farm.
Solar water pumps can help solve the problem of accessibility and provide regular water supply for domestic and agricultural usage.

BENEFITS
- Solar pumps can supply water to locations at very high elevations and help overcome the problem of inaccessibility.
- The pumps typically promise reliable supply.
- Once installed, solar pumps have low operation and maintenance costs and do not require regular procurement of fuel.
- As water usage can be limited to daylight hours, lack of a battery means a regular supply of water for 12-15 years without recurring expenses.
- Agricultural water pumps support income generation and enable communities to harvest multiple crops in a year.
- Community engagement creates a vested interest amidst the beneficiaries to maintain the system.
- No battery and regular tariffs enable self-sufficiency and support long-term sustainability.
- Water posts 2 minutes from home improve overall sanitation and hygiene across communities.
- Children have more time to study and women have more time for household working and productive activities.
- Reduced diesel utilization for agricultural purposes.
- Ability to grow kitchen gardens and plant trees.
